Mauricio Galeano is a musician from Uruguay who currently lives in Leipzig, Germany. He studied guitar at the Escuela Universitaria de Música in his home country. He went on to study with Magnus Andersson in Sweden and with Jürgen Ruck at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, Germany.

He has performed internationally in Europe, the UK and South America, and has taken part in various festivals and concert series (Hellerau Festival, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Dresden Days of Contemporary Music, Bremen Biennale for New Music, Würzburg Days of Contemporary Music, Linea Academy Strasbourg, Stuttgart International Guitar Festival, Festival Sintese Castelo Branco) as well as with educational institutions (HfMT Leipzig, HfM Dresden, Institut für Zeitgenössische Musik HfMDK Frankfurt, Goldsmiths University and Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, Malmö Academy of Music, Sonology Institute in The Hague, as well as a scholarship holder of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice).

His first album Colloid was released in 2022 on the American label Neuma Records and features solo works by Brian Ferneyhough, Wieland Hoban, Klaus K. Hübler, Ray Evanoff and Richard Barrett. He has also appeared as a soloist on KAIROS (Andrew Greenwald’s A Thing Made Whole) and NEOS.

He has premiered works by Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf, Andrew Greenwald, Wieland Hoban, Michael Edgerton, Martyna Kosecka, Niki Zohdi, Ray Evanoff, Evan Johnson and has performed with the Grow String Quartet, Trio Abstrakt, ELISION Ensemble and others.

Together with saxophonist Salim(a) Javaid, he forms the duo Galeano/Javaid, which has performed in Germany and the UK and has commissioned new works from Evan Johnson, Sam Hayden and James Erber, among others.
