Duo Galeano/Javaid
Duo Galeano/Javaid is a Cologne and Leipzig-based ensemble specializing in New
Complexity and intricate, multi-layered sound-based music. The duo features saxophonist
Salim(a) Javaid (Czech Republic/Pakistan) and guitarist Mauricio Galeano (Uruguay). Their
work is characterized by virtuosic interplay and innovative sonic textures, pushing the
boundaries of contemporary chamber music.
The duo has performed extensively across Europe and the United Kingdom, offering
workshops and masterclasses that engage musicians at various levels. Their commitment to
education and artistic exchange complements their performance practice, fostering a deeper
understanding of complex contemporary music.
They have collaborated with notable composers and musicians such as Evan Johnson, Ray
Evanoff, James Erber, Roger Redgate, and Sam Hayden, with most of these collaborations
involving new works commissioned specifically for the duo.
Both artists are currently scholarship holders of the InSzene program, supported by the
German Music Council, recognizing their significant contributions to the contemporary music
scene.
